Chioggia (Little Venice)

Tuesday 9th October

Off to Chioggia today, town on a small island southern entrance of Venice lagoon. Touted as another Venice and like Venice it is connected to the mainland by a causeway, has canals and has little streets called calle....  but the big issue is - it has cars! Also nowhere near as atmospheric as Venice,  very touristic as they say here, long line of hotels along the waterfront, must be kneedeep in people in the summer. (not that Venice is short of tourists, lol) It was Ok to walk around but dodging bikes              (electric bikes v popular here and deadly silent) and cars not a lot of fun.

Educated on Italian pronunciation today....  this word Chioggia is pronounced keyorja.... whereas words starting with "c" are pronounced CH!!   Go figure!

Washing day in Chioggia

Just like the Rialto Bridge

Canals of Chioggia

Fishing port of Chioggia

Looks the same as Venice.... but it's not!
