Saxony tourist route

Thursday 13th Sep
When I checked on Heidenau 18 ks from Dresden, Saxony, turns out it has been quite intolerant to recent immigration etc. Anyway we had a nice meal at a traditional restaurant, no idea what we were ordering, (no English subtitles) and both we and the waiter no capeesh.

Today on the road to Berlin. First stop was at Bastei Bridge, out of Dresden,   rock formations rising above a river.  back in 1200's there was a castle perched on top the rocks. Incredible sight really.  Obviously on the tourist route... as we left, several bus loads of Asian tourist turned up.
View from the top of the rocks to river below

What the old 1200s rock castle looked like

Bastei Bridge

Next onto Rakotzbrucke , Kromalu Park, known as the Devils bridge, 19th century bridge built to create a perfect circle reflection in the water of the lake it spans. Setting is a beautiful tall timber forest.   Only problem was the season has been so dry, (lots of sorry rhododendrons) most of the water has dried up, spiky rock formations around the bridge worth the effort.

Devil's Bridge....   meant to be a perfect circle reflection, but alas no water

Rocks around the bridge

Other side... faint reflection

Rather relaxing drive to Berlin for rest of the day.....   no motorways....  took longer but more interesting, went through lots of little towns.
